Louise Rains Gomez is a Managing Director in FTI Consulting’s Technology segment. Louise Rains brings more than 10 years of experience in litigation, e-discovery and information governance, with a focus on helping clients reduce costs and alleviate their broad data management challenges.

Louise has advised legal, records, IT and information security departments identify, develop, evaluate and implement in-house e-discovery and data governance processes, programs and solutions. She deeply values relationships and leverages FTI’s extensive network and expertise to ensure clients are receiving the most experienced and qualified teams for their matters.

Louise has extensive experience planning, organizing and supervising document reviews and assisting law firm and corporate clients in setting up efficient e-discovery workflows. Her work spans complex litigation and investigations, including FCPA inquiries and second requests. Louise draws on five years of experience as a litigator, giving her first-hand perspective into the situations her clients are facing and strategies that will effectively address their unique needs.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Louise was an associate at Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP and Eversheds Sutherland LLP, where she focused on general commercial and patent litigation. She was responsible for managing cases, including supervising other attorneys, managing e-discovery, preparing for trial, negotiating settlements, drafting court filings and guiding and advising clients.

Representative examples of Louise’s engagement experience include:
  • Co-led GDPR readiness assessments to develop roadmap to GDPR compliance. Engaged with and interviewed stakeholders; assessed and quantified key risks of non-compliance; and prioritized policies and processes for development. Prepared Privacy Impact Assessments and Data Protection Impact Assessments, as well as strategies for Privacy by Design and Default.
  • Conducted HIPAA security rule risk assessments, including for a large healthcare client and device manufacturers, evaluating administrative, technical and physical safeguards to determine vulnerabilities in existing approach. Ongoing work with clients to implement security policy and mitigate risks in a financially sound way.
  • Advised corporate clients on Information Governance (IG) initiatives, including assessing an organization’s information governance maturity, preparing, summarizing and presenting findings of the same utilizing the Compliance Governance and Oversight Council (CGOC) methodology as a framework to increase security and cost efficiency while simultaneously reducing risk and decreasing cost.
  • Co-led cross-office team in handling multiple international engagements for a corporate client, including FCPA investigations, ABAC investigations, product liability, patent infringement and employment disputes. Through collaboration with global teams spanning more than 15 languages, including Spanish, developed a translation workflow and process that was later implemented across the entire Technology segment.
  • Managed e-discovery and collaborated with teams for multi-million dollar product liability multi-district class action in multiple languages for major automotive company.
  • Oversaw cross-office team in assisting D.C.-based law firm and corporate client in responding to SEC investigation, including processing, review and producing documents to the SEC. Utilized FTI’s analytics capabilities to revise terms and manage the unique volume of data that had to be reviewed.
