About Marty
Marty Kinnavy conducts international investigations and intelligence gathering and focuses on assisting financial institutions, law firms and corporations across a variety of industries. Mr. Kinnavy has more than 12 years of experience as an investigator, with expertise leading large-scale cross-border matters focused on financial crimes such as fraud, money laundering and corruption.
Mr. Kinnavy manages money laundering and sanctions-related investigations involving forensic transaction reviews and compliance program evaluations. He frequently assists clients in matters stemming from regulatory enforcement actions, surrounding compliance with the U.S. Bank Secrecy Act (“BSA”) and other Anti-Money Laundering (”AML”) provisions and the Office of Foreign Assets Control (“OFAC”).
Mr. Kinnavy has led complex fraud and internal investigations into allegations of bribery, kickbacks, embezzlement, asset misappropriation and other employee malfeasance, and advised clients regarding internal controls and compliance. He has also supported counsel in complex international investigations and monitorships involving potential violations of anti-corruption statutes such as the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (“FCPA”) and the UK Bribery Act. Mr. Kinnavy’s practice also focuses on intelligence gathering and investigative due diligence, utilizing open sources, public records and human intelligence. He has supported clients and counsel with investigations to develop key facts in support of litigation, commercial disputes, asset searches, investments and other transactions and compliance.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Kinnavy was a member of the Business Intelligence practice at a private risk and security consulting firm. In this capacity, he conducted complex investigations requiring intelligence collection for the firm’s clients around the world. Earlier in his career, Mr. Kinnavy worked in the entertainment industry as a script reader for a large film studio and a talent agency.
Mr. Kinnavy holds a B.A. in Screen Arts and Cultures from the University of Michigan, and an M.F.A. in screenwriting from Boston University. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner and is licensed as a Private Investigator in the State of Massachusetts.
