Matt Gimlett is a member of the Office of the CFO Solutions practice and specializes in the pre-sign, sign-to-close and post-close phases of the merger integration and carve-out lifecycle. Mr. Gimlett has experience in leading company initiatives, transactions and business transformation efforts. He has industry experience in the financial services, corporate and industrial sectors.

Mr. Gimlett has diverse experience leading project management offices (“PMO”), the cross-functional team designed to actively manage and resolve risks, issues and escalations to senior company leadership. Mr. Gimlett also has extensive experience leading finance and back-office functions in the planning, analysis and execution of critical milestones.

Regarding his carve-outs experience, Mr. Gimlett led joint buyer/seller due diligence efforts to carve-out and stand-up a $400 million company from a Fortune 500 global technology parent company. In this role, he performed organization design, benchmarking, TSA scoping and analysis, and served as a liaison to external counsel in drafting and finalizing the MTA and conditions for closing. Mr. Gimlett also led a cross-functional PMO and provided back-office functional support for a $400 million company, where he drove weekly PMO and steering committee meetings with executive leadership of the parent company, new company and private equity firm, and supported the execution and stand-up of core HR, accounting, treasury and tax capabilities via the TSA, new in-house processes and strategic sourcing with third-party service providers. During this engagement, he also facilitated the development and negotiation of TSA services and led the transaction ‘closing checklist’ validation for both the buyer and seller.

Mr. Gimlett’s merger integration experience includes leading the cross-functional synergy workstream for a PMO during integration planning, where he coordinated with functional leads to identify over $125 million of cost synergy savings for a $2 billion newly combined media company based on organizational re-design and strategic sourcing opportunities. He also led finance workstream integration planning for the company, including target operating model design, milestone and task plan development in addition to leading a strategic assessment of shared services and enterprise resource planning integration. Additionally, Mr. Gimlett led a comprehensive finance function assessment of a $300 million portfolio company to evaluate key processes across accounting, FP&A and treasury, resulting a detailed plan to deliver 55% more efficient month-end close process and an enhanced EBTIDA and cash flow forecast to be shared with lenders and private equity owners.

In regards to his spin-off work, Mr. Gimlett supported the stand-up of the treasury function for a $1 billion publicly traded company following the spin-off from the parent company, including process design and the development of a rating agency model for the client to forecast future rating outputs on both an annual and rolling four quarter basis.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Gimlett was part of GE’s premier financial leadership programs, where he was an Audit Manager on the Corporate Audit Staff and a member of the Financial Management Program serving in roles across GE Capital, GE Healthcare, GE Power and GE Corporate.
