Maurice Crescenzi is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting in the Forensic & Litigation Consulting segment, where he works with clients across a range of industries and geographies on matters related to organizational governance, compliance, ethics, anti-corruption, and risk-management program evaluation, design, implementation, and optimization. He is a former in-house compliance and ethics officer with more than 27 years of combined industry and big four consulting experience.
A seasoned compliance officer with cross-industry experience, Maurice has conducted ethics and compliance work in more than 35 countries and has held in-house compliance officer positions at the leadership level in leading, global consumer products companies such as the Altria family of companies (composed of Philip Morris, Kraft Foods, Miller Brewing, etc.), Schering-Plough Pharmaceuticals, and the DeVry Education Group. In these capacities, Maurice led the design and implementation of the companies’ global ethics and compliance programs. As a compliance leader, Maurice has served on the companies’ management teams, and has reported to the audit committee of the board.
Maurice is well-versed in leading practices related to effective compliance program design and implementation – across all programmatic elements (e.g., risk assessments, code of conduct, training, whistle-blowing, monitoring, etc.) and risk areas (e.g., anti-bribery and anti-corruption, conflicts of interest, antitrust, insider trading, records management, etc.).
Maurice has helped clients design, implement, and evaluate their governance, compliance, and risk-management programs in the following industries: Consumer and Industrial Products; Pharmaceuticals and Life Sciences; Sports / Mega Sports; Travel and Entertainment; Higher Education; Payroll Services; Retail; Financial Services; and Insurance.
Maurice is a recognized member of leading compliance organizations, and he speaks regularly at compliance and ethics conferences, both in the United States and abroad. He is also an accomplished author, with articles featured in publications including The Wall Street Journal and The Compliance and Ethics Professional.
Maurice also serves as an adjunct graduate-level professor at two universities in New Jersey, teaching self-designed courses dealing with the inter-related concepts of organizational governance, compliance program design, culture, and ethical decision making.
