Expertise

Michael Cordasco specializes in providing restructuring advisory services to companies, lenders and other creditors in both formal Chapter 11 proceedings and out-of-court workout situations. Mr. Cordasco over 20 years of experience, including industry expertise in energy, financial services, automotive, media, telecommunications and consumer products, among other areas.

He has significant experience with reorganization and bankruptcy-related matters. His responsibilities have included plan negotiations, the preparation and review of business plans, cash flow forecasts, liquidation analyses and complex distribution waterfalls; the evaluation and negotiation of 363 sale processes; the development of strategic alternatives; the review of debtor-in-possession financing facilities and the analysis of creditors’ claims and projected recoveries under various operating and restructuring scenarios.

Selected engagements that Mr. Cordasco has served on include Allied Office Products, American Safety Razor, Blitz USA, Buffets, California Resources, Cengage, Colt Defense, Cooper-Standard Automotive, Corus Bankshares, Covia Holdings, Employee Solutions, Energy XXI, Enron, Exco Resources, General Motors, Harry & David, Home Interiors and Gifts, Journal Register Company, Legacy Reserves, Mark IV Industries, Metro Fuel Oil, Northstar Offshore Group LLC, Refco, Regus, Rock & Republic, Sanchez Energy, SeaSpecialties, Spansion, Swift Energy, United Companies Financial, US Airways Group, Vanguard Natural Resources, Washington Mutual and WorldCom.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Cordasco was a Manager at Goldin Associates. Before that, he spent more than five years in Ernst & Young’s Corporate Finance practice.

Mr. Cordasco previously held NASD registered licenses 7 and 63. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Association of Insolvency & Restructuring Advisors and the Turnaround Management Association.
