Naidira Alemova is a Senior Managing Director in the Financial Services practice at FTI Consulting in New York. Ms. Alemova has more than 20 years of experience in banking and securities regulatory matters including investigations of money laundering, financial crime, bribery and corruption. She has held senior compliance positions with global and U.S. financial institutions as well as international consulting firms.
Ms. Alemova’s experience covers the execution of anti-money laundering (“AML”), sanctions and fraud risk assessments. She has implemented large, complex Know-Your-Customer (“KYC”) programs, including but not limited to the supervision of KYC file remediations; investigations of money laundering, fraud, bribery and corruption; international asset tracing and recovery; Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (“FCPA”) -related investigations; sanctions investigations and suspicious activity historical transaction reviews (“Lookbacks”) investigating suspicious wire transfers and fraudulent counterfeit checks. Ms. Alemova has performed AML and U.S. sanctions reviews for several major international banks in relation to U.S. Department of Justice investigations of U.S. sanctions violations. She also investigated financial fraud schemes and prepared expert reports in connection with litigation focusing on discovering and tracing movements of funds through various correspondent banking accounts.
Ms. Alemova has led assessments across all aspects of the AML program for multiple large, global, regional and specialty banks and other non-bank financial institutions in response to regulatory mandates, annual assessments and program improvement initiatives. This involved analyzing multiple aspects of the bank’s AML and other financial crime functions across multiple jurisdictions, evaluating local regulatory impact, privacy concerns and technology platforms, identifying gaps and weaknesses with respect to both regulatory requirements and industry peers and providing both tactical and strategic recommendations for improvement. She has also performed a group-wide implementation of Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (“FATCA”) & KYC programs for several international banks and insurance companies and has managed large KYC remediations for several international banks. Ms. Alemova is fluent in various languages and has vast international experience serving clients in various jurisdictions around the globe.
During Ms. Alemova's tenure as Head of Anti-Money Laundering, Sanctions and Anti-Fraud Compliance Advisory at a large financial institution in New York, Ms. Alemova established a robust Anti-Financial Crime oversight program including enterprise-wide Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering and Sanctions (including EU and Office of Foreign Asset Control (“OFAC”)) compliance programs.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting Ms. Alemova was a partner in the forensic and integrity services of a large international consulting firm (Big Four).
