Robert Molina specializes in corporate turnarounds, restructurings and complex financial situations. Mr. Molina has almost a decade of experience providing client advisory services and has a breadth of industry expertise in consumer products, gaming and hospitality, energy trading, oil and gas, mining and automotive.
In addition to nearly a decade providing client advisory services, Mr. Molina spent over seven years as a corporate executive in one of the largest turnarounds in consumer packaged goods history. Mr. Molina’s advisory experience includes cash management, capital structure review, financial restructuring, financial statement analysis, liquidity analysis, valuation, merger integration, performance improvement, process and controls analysis and improvement, financial modeling, bankruptcy preparation and bankruptcy claims distribution.
Mr. Molina advised Hostess Brands during their bankruptcy and subsequent liquidation, filling a variety of roles including corporate restructuring, bankruptcy preparation and interim management. He was then hired by the acquiring private equity firms and served as a senior executive during the relaunch and stabilization over the following seven years. In his primary role as SVP of FP&A, he set up and monitored corporate financial KPI’s and their management systems, and owned reporting to investors and the board of directors. He launched and led the Consumer and Commercial Finance teams, setting all product pricing (launch and ongoing) and managing all trade, product profitability and channel conflicts during the company launch and thereafter. As the company was being stood up, he also launched the Category Management and Sales Operations teams, leading them through first few years post-launch. For potential acquisitions, he ran the assessment modeling and was involved in merger integration.
Mr. Molina has led financial workouts and restructuring advisory on companies spanning the consumer goods, energy, gaming & hospitality and mining industries, among others. He led teams in engagements with three on-Strip and one off-Strip Las Vegas-based casino operating companies. These included a $6 billion multi-national entertainment and real estate company and a $1 billion Las Vegas joint venture, as well as a $500 million casino development stalled by the global financial downturn. He also led a collateral asset assessment on a joint-venture locals casino.
Mr. Molina has performed valuations for bank syndicates of several corporations ranging in size from sub - $100 million to $5 billion. He has provided interim treasury work, and has served as interim SVP of FP&A. His experience includes Enron Creditors Recovery Corp, Delphi Automotive, Pacific Energy and Exploration, Hostess Brands, Patriot Coal and Energy Maintenance Services Group.
