Sean Darragh is a Managing Director in the Strategic Communications segment at FTI Consulting and is based in Washington, D.C.  Mr. Darragh draws upon his 30+ years of experience in government and industry to advance clients’ public policy and regulatory priorities.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Darragh served as the Executive Vice President for Global Strategies at the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) where he oversaw public affairs, legislative, regulatory and communications strategies.  In that role, Mr. Darragh served as a cleared advisor to the Secretary of Agriculture and the U.S. Trade Representative as a member of the Agriculture Policy Advisory Committee, which advises on the administration of U.S. trade policy.

Before joining GMA, Mr. Darragh served as Executive Vice President for International Affairs and Food and Agriculture at the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), where he directed diplomatic, legislative, regulatory and communications strategy, and represented the industry at the state, federal, and international levels.  Simultaneously, Mr. Darragh served as Executive Director for the Council on Biotechnology Information (CBI).  During his tenure, CBI received the “Silver Anvil Award” from the Public Relations Society of America for excellence in communications.  Concurrently, Mr. Darragh also served on the Board of Advisors for Scientific American Worldview Magazine.  Sean served as Deputy Vice President for International Affairs at the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers Association (PhRMA).

While in government, Mr. Darragh served in numerous senior policy-making positions including: Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, Senior Advisor to the Deputy Treasury Secretary, Principal Food and Agricultural Negotiator at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, and on the White House National Security Council staff as Director for Global Issues and Multilateral Affairs.

In 1992, Mr. Darragh worked in Little Rock, Arkansas, on then Governor Clinton’s Foreign Policy Team, and subsequently on President-Elect Clinton’s National Security Transition Team.

Mr. Darragh is a graduate of West Point and received his graduate degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.  He is also a graduate of US Army Ranger School, Airborne School, and Air Assault School.
