Stephen Hamilton is a Managing Director in the Business Transformation practice and specializes in operations and revenue growth. Mr. Hamilton takes a hands-on approach, integrating progressive strategy and traditional process discipline with high-impact leadership practices and innovative thinking to affect organizational change, maximize business performance and drive global enterprise value. He has over 33 years of experience as a steadfast, performance-focused operations leader and change architect.
Mr. Hamilton has consistently delivered far beyond scope, with a career hallmarked by direct leadership of over 90 operational business transformations in the chemical, energy, financial services, manufacturing and mining sectors across North America, EMEA and the Asia Pacific Rim.
Recent engagements for Mr. Hamilton include working with a global producer to deliver an eight-figure bottom-line savings for a steam-assisted gravity drainage startup in the Canadian oil sands with a new management control system and process improvements, resulting in a 70 percent upsurge in daily production, a 20 percent increase in operating efficiency, a 50 percent cutback in non-fuel operating expense and a 5 percent drop in diluent usage. Mr. Hamilton also worked with a midstream joint venture in the Marcellus/Utica region to increase takeaway capacity by more than 45 percent.
In addition, Mr. Hamilton worked with a post-acquisition midstream asset for a Fortune 100 company in Wyoming to increase operating efficiency by 21 percent, while reducing operating expenses by 39 percent. He also worked with a global downstream refiner to adopt operational excellence practices in their plant turnaround and shutdown methodology and reduce capital expenditure by 32 percent across 37 plants globally.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Hamilton successfully led three operational performance start-up consulting firms. He also held senior leadership positions with Synovum Partners, Maine Pointe, The Sinclair Group, Evolve Partners, Gordian Transformation Partners, Cambridge Technology Partners, Sterling Commerce, GPR-Dehler and Proudfoot Consulting.
Mr. Hamilton studied Construction Engineering Technology at Memphis State University and Company Directorship at the University of New England.
