Tensie Axton is a Senior Managing Director in the Turnaround & Restructuring practice and specializes in formulating and executing strategies for companies experiencing significant events in acquisitions, integrations, divestitures, process improvements and restructuring. Ms. Axton has more than 25 years of experience serving as a strategic, financial and transaction advisor and providing executive management services. Her industry experience includes healthcare, financial institutions, technology, business services, manufacturing and distribution.
Ms. Axton has served in executive management positions throughout her career, including Chief Financial Officer in the healthcare and banking sectors, Chief Operating Officer in the healthcare sector and Vice President of Finance in a publicly-traded manufacturing and distribution company.
Ms. Axton’s restructuring experience includes credit negotiation, bankruptcy planning, cash forecasting, claims analysis, section 363 asset sales, plans of reorganization, testifying in bankruptcy court and serving as Liquidating Trustee.
In regards to the healthcare industry, Ms. Axton has created and led shared services organizations, implemented multiple billing systems and managed revenue cycle for physician groups and free-standing emergency room systems.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Ms. Axton was involved in the restructuring of Neighbors Health, a multi-state, free-standing emergency room company, including restructuring and stabilizing the company, preparing and filing for Chapter 11, and managing and executing a successful section 363 sale of the asset portfolio to multiple buyers. She currently serves as the Trustee for the Liquidating Trust of the company.
Before Neighbors Health, Ms. Axton was a Transaction Services Partner at KPMG, where she advised numerous clients on acquisitions and integrations in a variety of industries in the U.S. and globally. During her tenure, she led the Transaction Services Practices in Denver and Silicon Valley while serving as the Office Managing Partner for the Denver office.
Ms. Axton holds a B.B.A. in accounting from Texas A&M University and is a graduate of the Wharton School of Executive Leadership. She is a Certified Public Accountant (“CPA”) and a member of the Texas Society of CPAs.
