Tim Grubb is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting and is based in Brentwood, TN. He is part of the Health Solutions practice and focuses on both finance and project management services. He has over 25 years of experience, with more than 14 years of healthcare experience including hospital operations, project management, interim management, consulting, capital planning, bankruptcy accounting and financial and operational analysis with investor-owned and not-for-profit healthcare systems.

Tim rejoined FTI Consulting in 2017 in a dual development and delivery role. One of the projects that he co-led during this time was a financial turnaround engagement for an 18-hospital system, coordinating work across a number of workstreams including labor productivity, supply chain, revenue cycle, IT and other areas.

Prior to returning to FTI Consulting, Tim served as an executive at a leading healthcare strategic planning and analytics software firm, where he collaborated with hospital and health system executives, clinical chairs and service line leaders to leverage technology to create planning alignment, visibility, and accountability to accelerate execution on strategic, performance improvement, and accreditation plans. He was responsible for consulting and implementation services for the healthcare industry’s leading enterprise strategy and performance management solution. His clients included the largest investor-owned healthcare systems in the country, Academic Medical Centers, Community Hospitals and other not-for-profit hospitals and health systems. He achieved the highest degree of client satisfaction while responsible for client-facing operations, including oversight of consulting services, software implementation, client satisfaction, retention and expansion of services, product support, training development functions, as well as product roadmap prioritization.

Tim began his healthcare career with Cambio Health Solutions prior to its acquisition by FTI Consulting. His responsibilities included interim finance management roles, debt covenant violation studies, client data acquisition and financial modeling, payer, physician and product line profitability analysis and expert witness report research on behalf of unsecured creditors of bankrupt hospitals. He is also experienced in benchmarking, cost and financial accounting and reporting as well as financial planning, creating cash forecasting models, acquisition, and divestiture analysis and managed care contract modeling.

Tim left FTI Consulting to focus on completing an MBA at Vanderbilt University. While in school, he also led the financial planning analysis (FP&A) functions for a division of a national provider of outsourced operating room services, capital equipment and supplies, including, budgeting and financial reporting functions and contract modeling functions.

Tim began his career in the toy manufacturing industry, working for the company that brought the pool noodle to the market and eventually led the sell-side due diligence for this product line and, years later, the company. His experience also includes banking and non-profit education.

Tim holds an M.B.A. from Vanderbilt University and a B.A. from Aquinas College in Nashville, TN.
