Todd Reynolds is a Managing Director at FTI Platt Sparks and is based in Austin. Mr. Reynolds is in the Platt Sparks energy group in the Economic Consulting segment. He works on all phases of geological and geophysical studies and provides geological support to engineering studies.

Mr. Reynolds has extensive experience analyzing well logs and seismic data in multiple geologic settings. His experience includes seismic interpretation, seismic survey design and acquisition, and seismic attribute analysis with 27 years of experience on 3D workstations and software and 21 years on the IHS/SMT Kingdom platform. Mr. Reynolds has conducted numerous studies related to induced seismicity in Texas to determine spatial and temporal relationships between oil and gas activities and seismicity (small earthquakes).

Mr. Reynolds has testified as an expert witness before the Railroad Commission of Texas, the Louisiana Office of Conservation, the New Mexico Oil Conservation Division and in several litigation proceedings.

Before joining FTI Platt, Sparks, Mr. Reynolds was employed 15 years by TWR Exploration, Inc. in Austin, Texas. As President of TWR, he developed, marketed and participated in 3D defined drilling prospects in multiple counties in Texas. Mr. Reynolds evaluated prospects and selected drill-sites for multiple clients on short- and long-term contracts. He also supervised 3D projects from acquisition and processing to final interpretation. Mr. Reynolds was also engaged by clients as an expert in geology and geophysics in litigation and regulatory proceedings.

Prior to his employment with TWR Exploration, Mr. Reynolds worked for United Oil and Minerals in Austin, Texas from 1985 to 1999. Mr. Reynolds was Vice President of Exploration from 1993 to 1999 managing multiple 3D projects and exploration programs along the Texas Gulf Coast, West Texas and parts of Mississippi. He provided geologic and geophysical interpretation and well-site selection for all of United’s exploratory operations for 14 years. During this period United gained recognition as one of the most successful exploration companies in the U.S. (see O&G Journal 9/18/95).

United was also an active player in the fractured Austin Chalk trend where Mr. Reynolds developed successful seismic attribute analysis techniques that greatly improved chances of finding highly fractured productive Austin Chalk intervals.

Mr. Reynolds was a featured speaker at the DOE Sponsored Symposium on the Austin Chalk Producing Trend at Texas A&M University (1992).
