Alex Chan

Alex Chan is a Managing Director in the Corporate Finance segment based in Hong Kong. Alex specialises in restructuring, insolvency and special situations advisory, with more than a decade of experience advising financial institutions, corporates and stakeholders on complex restructuring and insolvency matters across Asia.

Alex has led and participated in a broad range of restructuring and insolvency engagements, including the receivership sale of the Scholz Group, the liquidation and restructuring of Hong Kong Petrochemical Limited, the liquidation of Founder Information (Hong Kong) Limited, an offshore subsidiary of the PUFG Group, and the wind-down of the Asia Pacific operations of Folli Follie. He has also managed several high-profile property receiverships, including 39 Conduit Road, 5/F Opus, 15 Gough Hill Road, and a development site at Royal Albert Dock in East London.

In addition to insolvency enforcement, Alex has extensive experience in debt restructuring transactions. During the restructuring of Sino-Ocean Group, he led the Hong Kong team and worked closely with colleagues in the UK to analyse relevant alternatives and recovery scenarios in support of the company's restructuring processes in both Hong Kong and the UK. He has also advised numerous listed companies on implementing debt restructurings through schemes of arrangement, including preparing liquidation analyses, presenting estimated creditor outcomes under compulsory liquidation scenarios and supporting boards and management teams in negotiations with creditors and other key stakeholders to achieve consensual restructuring solutions.

Alex holds a B.B.A. from Hong Kong Baptist University and is a licensed member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (“HKICPA”), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (“ACCA”) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (“ICAEW”).
