About Fengrong
Fengrong Li is a member of FTI Consulting’s Power, Renewables & Energy Transition practice. Ms. Li advises companies, creditors, and equity sponsors on energy infrastructure development, financing, performance improvement, asset optimization, and transactions. She brings over 20 years of experience across the energy value chain. Her expertise spans market risk, utility strategy, asset valuation, and investment analysis, with a focus on resiliency, reliability, and decarbonization.
Ms. Li has led complex engagements involving M&A, business plan development, valuation, restructuring and bankruptcy, as well as expert testimony before Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (“FERC”), Federal Communications Commission (“FCC”), arbitrators, regulators, and energy commissions.
Ms. Li works closely with major infrastructure funds, financial institutions, utilities, independent power producers (“IPPs”), oil and gas majors, technology companies, and asset developers on resource economics, market fundamentals, tax credits, asset optimization, and capital market transactions. She helps clients navigate grid challenges and decarbonization needs, providing strategies to deliver 24/7 clean power and achieve carbon-neutral or carbon-negative goals.
Ms. Li has advised several of the earliest microgrid projects in the U.S. to improve resiliency and reliability. She has led power market nodal and zonal modeling projects to quantify revenue opportunities and curtailment risks. She advised utilities to integrate demand-side resources including distributed energy resources (“DER”), demand response (“DR”), energy efficiency (“EE”), electric vehicles (“EV”), supply-side resources including renewables, storage, small modular reactors (“SMR”), geothermal, carbon capture utilization and storage (“CCUS”), gas, and hydrogen.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Ms. Li had a 13-year career at Siemens Industry, Inc., where she led energy and infrastructure projects with energy companies, utilities, Independent System Operators (“ISOs”), and Regional Transmission Organizations (“RTOs”). Prior to Siemens, she was chief of the Merchandise Division at Mitsui Co., Ltd. (Qingdao), where she led international business development and infrastructure projects.
Ms. Li is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a Certified Insolvency & Restructuring Advisor. She graduated cum laude with an MBA in Finance from University of Notre Dame, earning the Provost Award.
