About Lu
Lu Li has nearly 15 years of strategy consulting, M&A advisory and industry experience. Ms. Li focuses on the consumer private equity sector and has led approximately 70 commercial due diligence efforts across both buy-side and sell-side. She has advised private equity and corporate clients on market assessment, market entry strategy, growth strategy, pricing and promotion, omni-channel strategy and value creation.
Ms. Li has deep expertise across a variety of consumer sectors, including personal care and beauty, pet product and services, pet retail and multi-unit concepts such as restaurants, quick-service restaurants (“QSR”) and fitness platforms. Additionally, she has advised clients in the food and beverage, consumer health, apparel and accessories sectors, as well as select consumer durables and services.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Ms. Li worked with EY-Parthenon’s Consumer Products & Retail Private Equity practice for more than five years. Preceding this role, she worked at PetSmart as a Senior Manager on the Corporate Strategy & Analytics team, where she led projects on pricing analytics, digital and omni-channel strategy, merchandising strategy, promotion effectiveness and supply chain strategy.
Ms. Li started her career with Nielsen, advising clients including Unilever and Reckitt Benckiser on product innovation across a variety of consumer sectors, such as hair care, body care, household care and snacks. In this role, she worked across multiple geographies, including China, Japan, India, South Africa and Singapore.
Relevant Experience:
- Led sell-side commercial diligence for a leading nail care brand; evaluated category stability and risks, assessed competitive landscape and sustainability of brand differentiation, evaluated channel dynamics and retail buyer investment in category, assessed voice of consumer in shopping behaviors and brand loyalty, and developed growth model quantifying priorities to drive market share gains
- Led buy-side commercial diligence for a franchised, multi-unit food and beverage concept; evaluated addressable market and category fad risks, assessed competitive landscape and differentiation, gained consumer feedback on purchasing behavior and brand satisfaction, assessed supply chain risks, estimated unit potential and identified key growth opportunities
- Led a market scan in pet product and services for a leading consumer product manufacturer; evaluated market size, competitive landscape, category attractiveness and strategic fit across more than 15 pet categories; prioritized key investment sectors and recommended investment roadmap
