Simon Taylor-Allan

Simon Taylor-Allan is a Managing Director in FTI Consulting’s Risk & Investigations practice in Australia. Simon helps clients navigate complex risk, compliance and governance challenges, particularly in the face of regulatory-driven change. With more than 18 years of experience across Australia and the United Kingdom, he supports clients with uplifting risk frameworks, strengthening control environments and embedding risk accountability across their organisations.

Simon’s expertise spans operational risk management, risk transformation, third-party risk and resilience. He works closely with boards, executives and risk leaders to deliver practical, proportionate solutions tailored to each organisation’s structure, maturity and strategic priorities. He has led programs in response to regulatory scrutiny, internal audit findings and transformation mandates, helping clients embed risk ownership, streamline compliance processes and enhance oversight across their organisation.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Simon was a Director at KPMG, where he supported a large number of financial services clients in uplifting their risk practices in alignment with APRA’s Prudential Standard CPS 230: Operational Risk Management. His work spanned banking, insurance and asset and wealth management, helping clients interpret regulatory expectations and embed practical, sustainable risk management solutions.

Simon primarily focuses on the financial services sector, but also works with organisations across various industries to uplift their risk, compliance and governance practices.

Relevant Experience:

• Led large-scale risk modernisation programs for major Australian banks in response to regulatory scrutiny, conduct issues and audit findings; worked directly with CEOs, executives and boards to uplift governance, consequence management, compliance and enterprise-wide risk frameworks
• Served as an operational risk and resilience specialist for clients of varying size and maturity, providing advisory, assurance and implementation support aligned to APRA CPS 230; delivered practical, proportionate solutions across operational risk, business continuity and supplier risk
• Designed and delivered controls modernisation and assurance programs, including independent reviews of home loan aggregators and enterprise-wide initiatives to eliminate redundancy and embed technology-enabled, proactive control environments
• Led cross-functional teams across Australia and New Zealand, overseeing complex mapping of risks, obligations and controls across retail and business banking, insurance and superannuation; known for building high-performing teams and strengthening risk ownership and control effectiveness across entire value chains
