Thomas Maassen advises on the valuation of businesses, shares and intangible assets and the assessment of damages to businesses, often in the context of disputes. Thomas also advises on a variety of economic topics, including in the determination of fair, reasonable and nondiscriminatory (‘FRAND’) royalty rates or complex issues involving the use of economic modelling. He has more than eight years of experience in providing financial and economic advice to clients.
Thomas’s experience covers matters before the courts of England and Wales, the Netherlands, the United States and Germany, as well as arbitrations under the rules of the ICC, ICSID, HKIAC, SIAC and UNCITRAL.
Thomas is an Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (‘ICAEW’) Associate Chartered Accountant (‘ACA’) and financial economist. He earned his M.A. in philosophy, politics and economics from Oxford University and his M.Sc in economics from the London School of Economics. Additionally, Thomas is a native Dutch speaker.
