Samuel Aguirre

Samuel Aguirre is a Senior Managing Director in the Corporate Finance segment and specializes in debt restructuring in the Americas. Samuel has experience in restructuring in Latin America, with a focus on turnaround plans, advising parties on consensual restructurings and providing interim management services.

Samuel trained in North America and gained significant experience in formal bankruptcy proceedings (receiverships, reorganizations and bankruptcies), out-of-court restructurings and operational restructurings. In Latin America, he has participated in the largest and most complex restructurings. He acted as CRO, structured/managed liquidation plans and participated in complex financial transactions and mergers and acquisitions.

In addition, Samuel has experience in arbitration (litigation support) environments, providing evaluation support as an expert witness to arbitration panels or to the parties involved. He has expertise in agribusiness; civil construction (cement, tiles and ceramics, steel and plastics); oil, gas and electricity (generation and distribution); media (cable TV and newspaper); automotive; and food retail.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting in 2008, Samuel was a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Toronto in the Corporate Finance practice.

Samuel is fully fluent in English, Spanish, French and Portuguese.

Relevant Experience:

• Advised Starbucks International on the restructuring of its brand in Brazil
• Provided unsecured creditors’ committee (“UCC”) for Amyris Biotechnology after it filed for Chapter 11 with USD750 million in debt
• Advised Avianca Consultant in its Chapter 11
• Advised on the restructuring of export credit agencies for Samarco, a Brazilian iron ore mining company
• Advised on the restructuring of USD1 billion in debt for Oi, a Brazilian telecommunications company
