About Heather
Heather DiFiore is a member of the Office of the CFO Solutions practice and specializes in corporate accounting and financial reporting improvement. Ms. DiFiore has been leading engagements and advising corporate clients for more than 15 years. Her professional service experience includes controllership improvement, project management, audit support services, technical accounting and financial reporting advisory, accounting policy and procedure creation, interim controllership services and conducting forensic accounting in conjunction with transactions and litigation. She has industry expertise in a variety of areas, including vehicle rental, telecommunications, healthcare, gaming, pharmaceuticals, construction, textiles and plastics, medical equipment and consumer products.
Ms. DiFiore leads accounting and reporting improvement engagements and has assisted the accounting organizations of Fortune 500 and privately-held companies with controllership improvement, financial reporting, technical accounting, audit support and project management. She has considerable experience providing accounting improvement, controllership, financial reporting, and audit support services to Chief Financial Officers, Chief Accounting Officers, and Corporate Controllers. Ms. DiFiore’s experience includes leading the assessment, recommendation, and implementation of operational improvement strategies; evaluation and enhancement of the financial close process; direction and realignment of finance and accounting staff to comply with audit and compliance requirements, as well as with redesigned internal processes and procedures; improvement of monthly financial reporting; presentation of updates to the Board of Directors and their audit committees and working closely with management and other professionals.
Ms. DiFiore has served as financial advisor to numerous companies experiencing financial and operational changes, including improvement programs to improve financial reporting, monthly close processes and related business processes. Further, she has aided clients by leading internal audit activities, process review and mappings, account reviews and transactional tracing, and development of remediation plans for controls weakness. Ms. DiFiore also has financial statement preparation and restatement support experience and has led engagements to review prior years for errors, develop and implement accounting policies and procedures consistent with GAAP, and support the audit of revised and restated financials by Big 4 Accounting firms.
Ms. DiFiore has held several interim positions from Controller to Chief Financial Officer. The interim roles are held concurrent with leading significant accounting and reporting improvement projects and have included assisting in the evaluation, reorganization, and development of the accounting department.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Ms. DiFiore worked in the Forensic Dispute Advisory Services practice of KPMG’s Atlanta office.
