Bob Knott is a senior managing director in the Strategic Communications segment at FTI Consulting, and is based in Washington, D.C. He also serves as head of the segment’s Corporate Communications practice in the Americas.
An expert in corporate social responsibility (CSR); financial communications, organizational positioning; and reputation and issues management — Mr. Knott has developed and executed integrated communications campaigns on behalf of Fortune 500 companies and trade associations in a diversity of sectors.
Mr. Knott plays a leadership role on a variety of important client engagements for the firm, including those with Allstate, Ace Hardware, Bain Capital, ComEd, Dow, FMC Corporation, NextEra Energy and Praxair.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Knott was a global practice chairman and global client relationship manager at Edelman, where he managed many of the firm’s largest and most high profile client engagements. Mr. Knott managed the global launch of GE’s ecomagination, while overseeing Edelman’s worldwide work for the conglomerate. He led an effort to reposition Monsanto, overseeing the company’s corporate advertising, market research, public relations and digital communications.
Mr. Knott also developed and implemented campaigns for the American Red Cross, Chevron, De Beers, DuPont, E.ON, Fannie Mae, JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, New York Life, Royal Dutch Shell, United Way of America, USAA, Veolia, Walmart and Waste Management — along with the Air Transport Association, American Wind Energy Association, Association of American Railroad and Financial Services Forum.
He has earned most of the industry’s top honors, including the PRWeek Award, Gold SABRE, Bronze Anvil and Communicator Award, while twice receiving Edelman’s Chairman’s Award — the single honor given annually for the highest quality service of any account team in the firm’s global network — and FTI Consulting’s Excellence Award, the single honor awarded for outstanding account work
Mr. Knott has served on the boards of directors of numerous non-profit organizations and is currently a trustee of Wheeling Jesuit University. He has a bachelor’s in professional writing from Wheeling Jesuit University and a master’s in business administration from Notre Dame of Maryland University.
