Alexandre Rivière is a Senior Director in FTI Economic and Financial Consulting practice and is based in the Paris office. He joined FTI in November 2009. He was formerly with PwC in Paris (2001-2009) in the Corporate Finance department, and prior to that with KPMG in New York (1998-2001) in the Financial Advisory Services group. Since 1998, Alexandre has focused on assisting clients in valuation, and other economic and financial issues, in contentious and non-contentious contexts (including disputes, transactions, frauds, or other business consulting).
Alexandre is acting as testifying expert in both commercial and investment treaty arbitration cases. His primary expertise is in the field of business valuation, economic and financial analysis, and particularly in the context of disputes. In the past few years, he has been involved in numerous international arbitration cases where he has assessed and quantified damages relating to alleged wrongful expropriation, contractual dispute, business valuation, disputed shareholder agreements, completion account disputes, mismanagement, construction dispute, violation of non-compete agreement, unfair competition, and other matters. He has also performed business valuations in non-contentious contexts such as transactions or impairment tests.
Alexandre has assisted companies in Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Africa, in a variety of industries, including telecom, oil and gas, energy, mining, construction, hotel and leisure, airline, media and advertising, luxury goods, food catering, agri-food sector.
Alexandre has been involved in disputes in front of the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the Association Française d’Arbitrage (AFA), the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC Institute), ad-hoc arbitration, as well as party appointed expert in French litigation cases.
Alexandre has provided expert testimony in international arbitration. Alexandre has also acted as expert witness at numerous advocacy workshops involving the mock examination of damages experts organised by CIARb in September 2014, as well as with the Foundation for International Arbitration Advocacy (FIAA), in July 2010 and December 2011. Alexandre is also participating as an expert witness at other advocacy workshops with various international law firms in Paris.
