Ana Heeren is a Managing Director in the FTI Consulting Strategic Communications practice and is based in Washington, D.C.

Ms. Heeren leads FTI Consulting’s Latin America and Caribbean offering and brings deep experience and a global perspective to the practice. She has developed comprehensive external and internal communication plans, public relations strategies and stakeholder engagements in such places as Spain, Italy, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, the U.K., and the United States.

She currently provides communications counsel to the Government of Mexico as it renegotiates the modernization of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

More recently, she managed a global media crisis for the Panamanian law firm involved in the Panama Papers data breach. She has also provided public affairs and media relations counsel to HOVENSA, the U.S. Virgin Islands refinery, in its bankruptcy and sale process and to the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) as it renegotiated its debt with creditors and worked to transform its infrastructure.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Ms. Heeren was a principal at PA Consulting Group’s Global Energy practice. There she executed diverse management consulting projects, ranging from crafting communications strategies to analyzing and executing re-org and process improvement projects to developing highly technical electric utility reliability enhancement plans.

Ms. Heeren has worked with a broad spectrum of clients, including oil and gas majors, electric utilities, regulators, chemical and agricultural companies, pension funds, and private equity firms. She has also worked at Bain & Company in Rome as part of their M&A due diligence team and in the Madrid offices of Llorente & Cuenca, a Spanish and Latin American communications consultancy, where she helped clients deal with complex public relations issues and fulfill corporate strategies through public and media relations.

Ms. Heeren co-authored Mexico’s Oilfields of Dreams published in May 2014; Managing Aboveground Risks: An experience from the US published at the Rio Oil & Gas Conference in September 2014 and Mexico’s Energy Reform published in January 2015.

Ms. Heeren holds an M.A. from Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a B.A. from the University of Westminster in London. A proud Brazilian native, Ms. Heeren is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and English and proficient in Italian. She serves as a key link between FTI Consulting’s U.S. and Latin American teams.
