Brian Hoard is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting and is based San Francisco. He is a member of the Telecom, Media and Technology (“TMT”) practice.

Mr. Hoard has more than 15 years of experience throughout the high-tech industry working with leading companies to transform their pricing and deal management, sales, innovation, product development and product portfolio management capabilities. He has extensive project management experience leading cross-functional teams executing large, complex projects at global firms.

Mr. Hoard’s client engagements include leading a transformation at a $5 billion global software firm that focused on global pricing, discounting processes and governance, enhanced analytics and business system requirements, transforming processes and capabilities across the organization and resulting in an expected $100 million of incremental margin on go-live. Mr. Hoard led the design and implementation of new sales and opportunity management processes and policies at a $400 million communications hardware company, improving quote turnaround times by more than 50 percent and driving incremental gross margin improvements of more than five percent. Mr. Hoard also led the design and implementation of a leading practice SI&OP process at a $10 billion storage solutions company, enabling discussion and decisions on gap exceptions of $300 million per week.

In addition, Mr. Hoard drove design and implementation of the engineering-wide resource management solution at a $10 billion semiconductor firm, including requirements identification, vendor selection, process design and integration, training and deployment to more than 5,000 users, resulting in estimated annual savings of $120 million. He also led the cross-functional team delivering a revolutionary consumer lifestyle product family at a $5 billion global leader of connected products, going from initial concept to global delivery of six unique products to store shelves in less than a year (received a PC Magazine Editor rating of “excellent”). Mr. Hoard also led a project at a $2 billion provider of devices, that identified and closed critical gaps in pricing and deal management processes, policies and governance, resulting in a projected annualized gross margin dollar increase of $140 million.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Hoard was a Principal at Accel Management Group, a boutique management consulting firm helping high-tech companies improve their product development, pricing, sales and operations capabilities, where he lead the Customer Excellence practice and Semiconductor and Electronics teams. Before Accel, Mr. Hoard was a Director with PricewaterhouseCoopers (“PwC”) via PwC’s acquisition of PRTM Management Consultants. At PwC, Mr. Hoard was a Product Development and Innovation Practice lead and recognized thought leader in high-tech pricing and deal management. Before PwC, Mr. Hoard was a Strategic Marketing Manager with Xilinx and worked in the Pricing and Business Strategy Group. In this position, he was responsible for driving cross-functional strategy initiatives and developing corporate pricing methodologies. Early in his career, Mr. Hoard was a Senior Applications Engineer focused on digital logic design within the communications, consumer electronics and aerospace industries. He has also worked as a Venture Fellow at The Aurora Funds, an early-stage venture capital firm located in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.

Mr. Hoard holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering with specializations in Digital Signal Processing and Communications Theory from Santa Clara University and an M.B.A. with concentrations in Finance and Strategy from The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. He is Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) by APICS.
