Chad Coben is a Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting and is based in Dallas. He is part of the Telecom, Media and Technology (“TMT”) practice within the Corporate Finance & Restructuring segment.

Mr. Coben has more than 25 years of experience serving in C-suite finance and operating management roles and as an advisor to companies and their capital partners on restructurings, transactions and business transformations across sectors.

Mr. Coben is a seasoned and effective leader, experienced in working with senior management teams, boards of directors, sponsors and lenders. He has advised lenders on matters including commercial, operational and financial due diligence, covenant defaults and in- and out-of-court restructurings. He has also advised companies and their sponsors in connection with due diligence, buy/hold decisions, acquisition integration, operational improvements and other business transformation.

Mr. Coben has provided on-site turnaround management services for clients including the assessment of restructuring alternatives, guidance through chapter 11 filings and leadership of operational turnarounds and performance improvement initiatives.

Mr. Coben has served in various management roles, including chief executive officer (“CEO”), chief financial officer (“CFO”) and chief restructuring officer (“CRO”) on behalf of both public and private equity-backed companies. In particular, he was the CRO of CPXi, a leading ad tech and digital media company; CRO of LodgeNet Interactive, the leading provider of entertainment and connectivity services to hospitality and healthcare businesses; CFO of PacWest Telecom, a wholesale provider of advanced telecommunications services; CFO of Pacific Crossing, a transpacific subsea telecommunications carrier and CFO of Broadstripe, LLC, a regional cable, internet and telephone service provider.

Mr. Coben has directed the negotiation, structuring and closing of more than 25 acquisitions and divestitures as an operator in the media and communications industry, totaling over $4.5 billion and over 50 financing transactions, totaling over $6.0 billion.

Mr. Coben joined FTI Consulting with the acquisition of CXO, L.L.C., a boutique turnaround and advisory services firm. Prior to joining CXO, Mr. Coben spent over six years as part of a core management team involved in the consolidation, financing and operations of the cable television, radio, outdoor advertising and telecommunications businesses through Marcus Cable, AMFM and Novo Networks. Mr. Coben began his career at Bank of America, where he spent six years in the Media and Communications Finance Group.

Mr. Coben holds a B.A. in Economics at the University of Texas at Austin and an M.B.A. from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University. Mr. Coben has published a number of articles and has been invited to speak at conferences on a variety of topics. He is a board member of the Turnaround Management Association and is actively involved in the Dallas community. He serves on the Board of Directors of several local non-profit agencies and was a founder of Dallas Social Venture Partners.
