Christine Kim is a Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting and is based in New York. She is a member of the Corporate Finance & Restructuring segment.
Ms. Kim brings more than 25 years of experience in restructuring, mergers and acquisitions and principal investing. She has served as an advisor in all aspects of financial and operational restructuring on behalf of companies, lenders and shareholders. In addition, she has led investment efforts for both distressed and growth-oriented public and private equity securities and managed portfolios of investments.
Ms. Kim’s experience spans numerous industries, including manufacturing, industrial, consumer products, retail, media, entertainment, education and technology. Ms. Kim has led numerous engagements, representing companies and lenders in in- and out-of-court restructurings, serving as interim management of distressed companies, developing and executing strategic and financial alternatives and business plans, formulating and implementing cost reduction and liquidity improvement initiatives, acting as financial advisor in the sale of underperforming and healthy businesses and assisting clients in structuring, evaluating and financing.
A representative list of Ms. Kim’s client experience includes Sequa Corp., Verso Paper, Noranda Aluminum, North American Bus Industries, Loral Space & Communications, WIS International, Expert Global Solutions, Edmentum Inc., LodgeNet Interactive, IMG Worldwide, RHI Entertainment, New York City Ballet, RadioShack, Sharper Image, Steve & Barry’s, Provo Craft & Novelty, Corvest Promotional Products, Global Home Products, Millennial Brands, Cooper Union University, EduK and EVCI College.
Ms. Kim joined FTI Consulting with its acquisition of the CDG Group, where she was a Senior Managing Director. While at CDG, she implemented a path for recovery and restructured debt obligations on behalf of companies and creditors. She also executed financial and strategic planning initiatives, including asset sales, mergers, capital infusions and business transformations. Prior to joining CDG, Ms. Kim was a Vice President at THLee Putnam Partners, where she originated private equity investment opportunities and managed portfolio companies’ financial and operating performances. Before that, she was an Assistant Vice President at GE Capital, where she assessed private equity investment opportunities. Before GE Capital, Ms. Kim was a Manager at Ernst & Young, providing restructuring and reorganization advisory services to financial institutions and companies. Ms. Kim began her career as an Analyst at Chase Manhattan Bank’s Mergers & Acquisitions group.
Ms. Kim was one of the key contributors to CDG’s International Company of the Year 2007 award for the work in NABI Autóbuszipari Rt., awarded by The Institute for Turnaround, a leading European turnaround professional organization. She was also named an Outstanding Turnaround Professional in 2012 by Turnarounds & Workouts.
Ms. Kim holds a B.S. in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell University.
