Clark Ansel is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting and is based in Dallas. He is a member of the Corporate Finance & Restructuring segment. Mr. Ansel has extensive experience providing a wide range of financial consulting and advisory services.
Mr. Ansel’s experience includes interim management, business plan development, treasury and cash management, valuation services, borrower and lender negotiations, financial statement analysis, operational and financial modeling, asset sales, performance improvement and post transaction services. He has in-depth knowledge of the energy industry, including oil and gas exploration and production, midstream, refining and marketing and oilfield services.
Mr. Ansel’s recent and ongoing engagements include financial advisory to the unsecured creditors of Swift Energy, Energy and Exploration Partners and Samson Resources, as well as advisory to the lenders of a development entity within a midstream master limited partnership (“MLP”), a California-based private exploration and production (“E&P”) company, senior leaders of Preferred Sands and a large offshore oil and gas engineering, procurement, construction and installation (“EPCI”) company.
Previously, Mr. Ansel served in a financial advisory role for Universal Pegasus, a mid-sized global engineering and construction management firm to the energy industry. His involvement included cash flow forecasting, analysis of the impact a carve out of the company’s Offshore and Power units would have on profitability and leverage and development of sell-side marketing materials for the company’s Trinidad and Tobago business unit. Mr. Ansel also provided financial advisory services to TXCO Resources (a publicly traded E&P company), where he advised management on negotiations with existing lenders and creditors, developed cash flow projections and pro-forma financial statements, supported all aspects of the bankruptcy process, assisted in sell-side due diligence and assisted with the wind down of the remaining business.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Ansel was an M.B.A. intern in the Corporate Finance group at AT&T. In this capacity, he was responsible for modeling volume and revenue projections across multiple product lines. Before returning to graduate school, Mr. Ansel held multiple positions at Trinity Industries, a large publicly traded industrial steel company.
Mr. Ansel holds a B.S. in Communication Studies from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.B.A. from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University. He is a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor. Mr. Ansel is a member of the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors and the Turnaround Management Association.
