About Clark
Clark Ansel specializes in providing a wide range of financial consulting and advisory services to both creditors and debtors. With close to 15 years of experience, Mr. Ansel has in-depth knowledge of the energy industry, including oil and gas exploration and production, midstream, refining and marketing, oilfield services, as well as food and protein, education, defense, retail, financial services, municipal debt, insurance and gaming.
Mr. Ansel has extensive experience in interim management, business plan development, treasury and cash management, valuation services, borrower and lender negotiations, financial statement analysis, operational and financial modeling, asset sales, contingency planning, performance improvement and post-transaction services.
Most recently, Mr. Ansel served in a financial advisory role for Geokinetics, Inc., a global geophysical services company. His involvement included assisting the company in refinancing its senior debt, filing an S-1, selling non-core assets, negotiating with its lenders and other stakeholders, managing cash flow and liquidity, leading contingency planning and navigating the company through a Chapter 11 bankruptcy process.
Mr. Ansel has served as financial advisor to multiple companies, including TXCO Resources, a publicly-traded exploration and production company, where he advised management on negotiations with existing lenders and creditors, developed cash flow projections and pro-forma financial statements, supported all aspects of the bankruptcy process, assisted in sell-side due diligence and assisted with the wind down of the remaining business.
Additionally, Mr. Ansel has served in a financial advisory role for multiple creditor constituencies, where he’s advised lenders and noteholders through in- and out-of-court restructuring processes, including forbearance agreements, amendments to credit agreements, restructuring support agreements, and debtor-in-possession (“DIP”) loan negotiations.
Mr. Ansel’s recent and ongoing engagements include financial advisory to the revolving credit facility and term loan lenders of Weatherford; the DIP and exit facility lenders of Parker Drilling Company; Geokinetics, Inc.; the senior lenders of Babcock & Wilcox; the unsecured noteholders of Forbes Energy Services; the senior lenders of C&J Energy Services; the unsecured creditors of Vanguard Natural Resources; the unsecured creditors of Samson Resources; the unsecured creditors of Swift Energy; the senior lenders of Preferred Sands; and the senior lenders of McDermott International.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Ansel worked in the Corporate Finance group at AT&T. Before returning to graduate school, Mr. Ansel held multiple positions at Trinity Industries, a large publicly traded industrial steel company.
