Cora Wan is a Director in the Strategic Communications practice of FTI Consulting and she is based in the Hong Kong office. With a focus on financial services companies, she specialises in corporate profile raising, crisis/issues management, internal communications, media relations, and stakeholder relations.
Before joining FTI Consulting, Ms. Wan was the External Relations Manager at the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) in Hong Kong from 2009-2012. In this role, she was responsible for strategic communications and crisis/issues management in relation to financial market policies and regulatory reforms after the 2008 financial crisis, which targeted local and international governments, the financial community and influential media outlets. She worked closely with key decision makers spanning Corporate Finance, Enforcement, Intermediaries, Market Infrastructure and Trading, and Investment Products in formulating stakeholder and press communications as well as lines to take for senior management.
Ms. Wan also drafted an organisation-wide stakeholder relations policy and outreach proposal in 2012 that was well received by board members at the SFC. Familiar with how various securities and derivatives products work, she has contributed to the press in the name of the SFC. Ms. Wan left the SFC to complete an LLB degree in 2013 which covered general commercial/company law and civil and criminal procedures.
Prior to joining the SFC, Ms. Wan worked at Edelman and an Omnicom Group company for more than five years where she served a broad spectrum of financial services firms and MNCs in Asia Pacific. Her previous key clients include Aberdeen Asset Management, AIA, Aviva, Carlyle, Clifford Chance, Harvest Capital Partners, Henderson Land, Jardines, Nomura/Lehman, Protiviti, and the Scottish Government’s trade development agency.
Ms. Wan is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
