David Reiser is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting and is based in Mclean, VA. He is a member of the Office of the CFO Solutions practice.

Mr. Reiser has extensive experience in facilitating U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) filings of large and mid-size public companies, with a deep understanding of the business and overall regulatory environment, applying accounting concepts and business knowledge to project management.

Mr. Reiser has previously been engaged as an auditor or advisor for a variety of clients, providing external and internal audit services. He has extensive experience serving clients in a variety of industries, including technology, manufacturing, biotech, financial services and aerospace and defense industries. A representative list of Mr. Reiser’s clients includes Vectrus, Computer Science Corporation, Volvo Rents, Gannett, Ginnie Mae, Freddie Mac, Federal Trade Commission, Fannie Mae, Lockheed Martin, Engility, Susquehanna Bank, Manitowoc Foodservice and Exelis.

Mr Reiser has provided financial reporting and accounting assistance related to a company spin-off, including assistance with the controllership and office of the CFO. He performed complex analyses in standing up SpinCo as an independent public company, including benchmarking, drafting of whitepapers on operating segments, discontinued operations, revenue recognition and goodwill impairment.

Furthermore, Mr. Reiser has assisted with the preparation of SEC-compliant, carve-out financial statements for business units that were being divested by a parent company and purchased by a private equity firm, which has included assisting with the development of the face financial statements for the target companies and the preparation of footnotes to the financial statements of the target companies.

Previously, Mr. Reiser served as the interim director of technical accounting and financial reporting for a $75 billion multinational company, supporting the largest technology merger in history, interpreting and applying Financial Accounting Standards Board (“FASB”) guidance and SEC regulations with respect to the transaction. In connection with a spin-off, Mr. Reiser also served as interim corporate controller for a $2 billion manufacturing public company, drafting the company’s first 10-K and 10-Q while maintaining an accurate system of accounting records compliant with generally accepted accounting principles (“GAAP”), working through complex technical accounting issues and ultimately transitioning corporate-level accounting functions performed at the parent to SpinCo.

Mr. Reiser has experience in compiling the balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement and statement of shareholders’ equity for a large construction equipment rental company. He also assisted the client with the resolution and documentation of various complex accounting matters that arose as a result of acquisition activity and lack of a deep understanding of certain related accounting principles. In addition, he helped the client determine the appropriate accounting resolution and adjusted journal entries for various errors that he identified.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Reiser was a Senior Manager in Ernst & Young’s Financial Accounting Advisory Services practice assisting CFOs in addressing financial reporting challenges facing their business and the finance function.

Mr. Reiser holds a B.S. degree in Accounting and Finance with a minor in Economics from James Madison University. He also holds an M.S. in Accounting from James Madison University. Mr. Reiser is a Certified Public Accountant in Virginia. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
