Douglas Saporito is an Associate Director of the FTI Consulting Forensic Accounting & Advisory Services practice and is based in São Paulo, Brazil.
Mr. Saporito has approximately 8 years of solid experience working and supporting medium and large companies from different industries in audit work, corporate compliance in accordance with foreign laws (FCPA and UK bribery) and national law (Law 12,846/13), research corporate fraud (accounting, financial and operational) and expert work of accounting/finance in support of disputes and business litigation.
He also worked as internal and external Auditor focusing particularly on evaluation of financial statements, evaluation and mapping of internal controls and corporate risk.
Before joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Saporito worked at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, conducting evaluation of internal controls based on risks related to North American anti-corruption law (FCPA) and the Brazilian anti-corruption law (Law 12846/13), as well as performing fraud investigations and serving as an expert / assistant coach in litigation proceedings.
Since 2012, he has worked as an expert witness at Arbitration Chambers, such as Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV), Market Arbitration Chamber (CAM), Center of Industry for the State of São Paulo (CIESP), the Industrial Federation for the State of São Paulo (FIESP) and the Chamber of Commerce Brazil Canada (CCBC).
Mr. Saporito was one of the technicians responsible for the work, providing accounting and financial advice on topics such as loss of profit, corporate dissolution, default clauses, opportunity costs, purchase and sales of companies, valuation of assets and liabilities, among others topics.
As an expert witness he worked in both as both an arbitration and court testimony, in cases related to the following sectors: construction, energy, retailing and packaging manufacturers.
Mr. Saporito also previously worked with KPMG, conducting analyses and testing of internal controls, analyses of financial statements based on accounting standards, and independent auditing and monitoring of physical inventory.
Mr. Saporito has a degree in Business Administration from the University Estacio de Sá, and is currently pursuing a law degree from Universidade Paulista (UNIP), as well as an Accounting from the Escola de Negócios Trevisan. He is fluent in Portuguese and has a good proficiency in English.
