Galen Reser is a Managing Director in the FTI Consulting Strategic Communications practice and is based in Washington, DC.
As a senior member of the firm’s Public Affairs team, Mr. Reser advises executive teams, boards of directors and senior decision-makers on public policy issues that pose opportunities and challenges to their organizations' enterprise values. With over 30 years of experience, Mr. Reser focuses primarily on tax, trade and corporate governance issues.
Mr. Reser is part of C2 GROUP, a highly regarded bipartisan government relations and lobbying firm, which was acquired by FTI Consulting in 2013.
Prior to joining C2 GROUP, Mr. Reser served as Vice President-Washington for PepsiCo, Inc. for nearly twenty years. During his tenure there, he was the principal contact with the federal government on matters of public policy and was responsible for managing corporate advocacy efforts supporting the company’s position on legislation relating to food safety, nutrition, environmental, labor, corporate governance and tax issues. He has served on the Board of Directors for the National Conference of State Legislatures Foundation, and the Congressional Awards Foundation.
Prior to his arrival at PepsiCo, Mr. Reser was Assistant Secretary for Governmental Affairs at the US Department of Transportation. He was nominated by President George H. W. Bush and confirmed unanimously by the US Senate. He was responsible for Congressional, Intergovernmental and Consumer Affairs for the department with over 105,000 employees and a $24 billion annual budget. Mr. Reser had direct management responsibility for over 40 professional and support staff. He served as principal advisor to the Secretary of Transportation on issues as they related to the Congress and state and local governments. Mr. Reser was the Secretary’s voting alternate to the Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations.
From 1985 to 1988, Mr. Reser was the Director of the State of Illinois Washington Office under Governor Jim Thompson. In this capacity, he served as a member of the Governor’s official cabinet. He was the Governor’s principal liaison with the National Governor’s Association.
From 1979 to 1985, Mr. Reser served as the Legislative Director to US Senator Charles H. Percy (R-IL). He was the Senator’s principal domestic advisor on all legislative issues and votes.
Mr. Reser is a graduate of Bradley University in Peoria, IL. He currently resides in Chevy Chase, MD and is married with one son.
