Gregory S. Thaler is a Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting and is based in San Francisco. He also serves as the Global Leader of FTI Consulting’s Business Insurance Claims practice. Mr. Thaler is a forensic accountant with 20 years of experience preparing large, complex property and business interruption claims and quantifying lost earnings and damages in litigation matters. Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Thaler was a Managing Director in LECG’s Litigation, Forensics & Finance practice, and the National Leader of LECG’s Property Insurance Claims practice. Before LECG, he was a Director in Deloitte & Touche’s Financial Advisory Services group and was the Associate National Director of Deloitte’s Business Insurance Claims practice. He has testified in trials and depositions, and has presented damages calculations at mediation proceedings.
On insurance claims matters, Mr. Thaler has assisted numerous policy holders in preparing billions of dollars in property and business interruption claims including claims resulting from fires, hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, typhoons, the events of September 11, and other catastrophes. He has also prepared large cyber crime, builders’ risk, product recall, and E&O insurance claims. Mr. Thaler has prepared large international claims including losses in Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Brazil, Angola, the U.K, the EU and the Caribbean.
On litigation matters, Mr. Thaler has calculated economic damages in matters involving business interruption, product defects, breach of contract, fraud, intellectual property, wage & hour, construction, environmental pollution, real estate and other issues.
Mr. Thaler earned a B.A. in economics at Cornell University and an M.B.A. at Cornell’s Johnson Graduate School of Management.
