Harlan Teller is Of Counsel in the Strategic Communications segment at FTI Consulting, and is based in Chicago. He also is part of the segment’s Corporate Communications practice.
Mr. Teller specializes in board of directors advisory; corporate and CEO positioning; corporate social responsibility (CSR); crisis communications; employee communications; financial communications; strategic philanthropy; and transactions.
His clients at FTI Consulting have included Allstate, Ball Corporation, COUNTRY Financial, Exelon, Navistar and Qwest. Previous clients have included Ameritech (presently AT&T), Beatrice Foods, Cinergy Corp., Deloitte, Ernst & Young, McDonald's, Procter & Gamble (Duracell), Sears and United Airlines.
A 35-year veteran of the communications industry, Mr. Teller joined FTI Consulting (formerly FD) in 2005, and launched its Midwest operations. During his tenure with the firm, he has served in a variety of capacities including vice chairman, chief knowledge officer and chief client officer.
Prior to FTI Consulting, Mr. Teller was at Hill & Knowlton (presently Hill+Knowlton Strategies); where he chaired the firm's U.S. corporate practice, managed its Chicago office, and ultimately became president of that firm's global corporate practice. He also has served as chairman of the U.S. corporate practice at Burson-Marsteller; and has been recognized as “PR Professional of the Year” by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Chicago chapter.
Mr. Teller has a bachelor’s in English from Northern Illinois University, where he graduated summa cum laude. He serves on the board of trustees at the Center for Economic Progress; Gateway for Cancer Research; social-services organization, Heartland Alliance; and WTTW Chicago Public Media.
He is on the advisory board of Columbia College Chicago's public relations department; and on the membership committee of the Economic Club of Chicago. Mr. Teller also has served as chair of the Council of Public Relations Firms' client advisory committee.
