Hugh Campbell is a Senior Director in the Agribusiness team within the Corporate Finance & Restructuring segment of FTI Consulting.

Mr. Campbell joined FTI Consulting in 2013 after five years with one of Australia’s leading corporate advisory firms, where he gained in-depth experience and insight across a wide range of advisory projects and asset sales.

Mr. Campbell has broad knowledge of the agricultural industry gained from growing up and continuing to be involved in his family’s mixed sheep, beef and dry-land cropping property in South-West NSW. Professionally, Mr. Campbell has worked extensively on trade sales, turnarounds, asset sales and independent advisory projects within the viticulture, beef, dairy, horticulture, poultry, cotton, agri-technology and broad-acre cropping sectors (farm gate through to processing and distribution).

Most recently, Mr. Campbell has been focused on seeking alternative strategies to restructure debt and on sourcing investment for the establishment or expansion of agricultural operations.

In addition to agriculture, Mr. Campbell also has experience across several other industries including manufacturing, mining, pubs and hotels, childcare, property and waste disposal.

Mr. Campbell holds a Master of Agribusiness, a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance and Accounting) and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.

Notable recent agribusiness engagements:

  • Assisted in the turnaround plan and implementation of a restructure for a large beef breeding and backgrounding enterprise in Northern/Central QLD.
  • Strategic business review of a robotic dairy enterprise in Southern NSW.
  • Pre-lending review and ongoing advisory for one of Australia's largest strawberry and stone fruit operations.
  • Strategic review and ongoing turnaround advisory of a large poultry operation in northern NSW.
  • Managed the trade-on and sale of 15 broadacre cropping properties (27,000ha) throughout the Eyre Peninsula, SA (including a large amount of P&E).
  • Managed the sale programme of three mixed grazing and maize properties in Central-West NSW.
  • Managed the trading and asset sale of one of Australia's largest single vineyard operations (730ha) along with a citrus farm located in the Riverina, NSW.
  • Receivership of a 20,000ha cotton property in the Riverina, NSW.
  • Management and dispersal of a dairy property and 500 cows on the NSW North Coast.
