Lisa Dane is a Senior Managing Director in the Global Risk & Investigations Practice (GRIP) and is based out of New York. Lisa has more than 20 years of experience in the field of conducting large-scale domestic and international fraud investigations, asset tracing, due diligence, business intelligence and litigation support matters for law firms and multi-national organizations worldwide. Her work has included global investigations for governmental agencies regarding fraud, bribery, and sanctions abuse; locating hidden assets to satisfy judgments in legal matters; FCPA investigations, and deep research into the backgrounds and reputations of entities and key management in third-party relationships and sensitive pre-transaction situations.

In addition to her extensive capabilities in managing and conducting investigative research, Lisa has particular expertise in pioneering the use of social media analytics on various types of investigations where understanding relationships maintained by individuals on social media platforms, as well as their commentary on certain topics, may be material to an investigation. Lisa also routinely employs social media analytics in tandem with other investigative tools in the realm of litigation support particularly during the discovery phase and also jury selection for clients going to trial.

In addition to working with hedge fund, M&A, private equity, and investment banking professionals on due diligence and business intelligence investigations, Lisa also works closely on investigations with attorneys, forensic accountants, computer forensic experts, and other relevant industry specialists.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Lisa was a director in the business intelligence practice of a global accounting firm. During the course of her career, Lisa has previously worked for a large multi-national corporation in its internal investigations group, as well as for other investigative consulting firms.

Lisa has lectured to law firms, bar associations and other organizations on leading practices related to due diligence and fraud investigations. She has recently authored articles on the use of social media analytics in investigations published in The National Trial Lawyers magazine and the FTI Journal. She has also authored the chapter on conducting background investigations in the book “Forensic Accounting for Dummies,” as well as articles in The Daily Deal, and the American Bar Association’s Business Torts Newsletter.

Lisa received a B.A. in Sociology Criminology from Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) and a Masters in Criminal Justice - Crime in Commerce from George Washington University.
