Liz Fitzpatrick is a Managing Director in the Forensic Accounting and Advisory Services practice, and is based in Hong Kong. Ms. Fitzpatrick has more than 15 years of professional experience in audit, tax, forensic accounting and corporate finance. Ms. Fitzpatrick specialises in internal and forensic investigations, litigation support and financial reporting issues.
Ms. Fitzpatrick has led a variety of forensic accounting engagements, including assisting both audit committees and companies undergoing internal investigations, providing technical accounting support, drafting expert reports and preparing witnesses for SEC and trial testimony.
Ms. Fitzpatrick’s engagements have included: analysing insurance and business interruption claim related to the largest U.S. poultry product recall; drafting expert and rebuttal reports for a matter involving breach of loan covenants; devising and implementing methodologies to detect fraudulent transactions in client statements and other contemporaneous records prior to 1995 in one of the largest known Ponzi’s schemes; assisting a DOJ monitor in conducting a risk assessment and evaluating a global engineering company’s compliance after an FCPA violation; leading a team that assisted a medical devices company in preparing restated financial statements and SEC filings.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Ms. Fitzpatrick was a director in a Big Four forensic accounting practice in Shanghai where she led forensic investigations and advised clients in areas including FCPA, embezzlement issues, corporate internal investigations, compliance program process improvements and anti-bribery and corruption due diligence on behalf of MNCs engaged in M&A transactions in China. Earlier in Ms. Fitzpatrick’s career, she was a senior associate at Andersen in London. Ms. Fitzpatrick began her career at KPMG where she spent three years in both the tax and audit practices based in Washington, DC.
Ms. Fitzpatrick earned a B.A in liberal arts and an M.A. in accounting and taxation from George Washington University. Ms. Fitzpatrick is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
