Mark Fish is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting and is based in New York.  He is in the Health Solutions practice in the Convergence segment. Mr. Fish has more than 24 years of healthcare industry experience. He has served in various leadership positions in his career in finance, contracting, strategy, analytics, actuarial and risk management.

Prior to joining FTI, Mr. Fish served as the Chief Financial Officer at MVP Health Care, where he was responsible for the oversight of operations with revenue exceeding $2.5B, an investment portfolio of $500MM, and an administrative expense budget of $270MM. He was also a member of the Executive Leadership Team. Mr. Fish managed a division of 155 employees and served as head of the Commercial Business Leadership Team. Mr. Fish held previous executive positions within MVP Health Care in Actuary, Finance, Network Management and Medical Affairs.

Additionally, Mr. Fish has experience as a Consulting Actuary at Milliman in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he provided consultative services to HMOs, hospitals, physicians and insurance companies. He also developed pricing models, global budgets, capitation targets and medical cost projections.  Mr. Fish began his professional career at Aetna in the company’s Actuarial Management Program where he attained Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries.

During Mr. Fish’s tenure as Chief Financial Officer, MVP reported Net Income of $100 million over 2010 to 2012.  In addition, he led a 3-year, $100 million financial turnaround of MVP’s Commercial business, improving the overall Medical Loss Ratio by 8% and, as part of a corporate-wide initiative to improve administrative efficiency, he directed a $57 million (20%) reduction in administrative expenses over two years.  Mr. Fish also played critical roles in two major acquisitions, adding 370,000 members and diversifying top line revenue.  He was the executive sponsor for the company’s Health Exchange strategy.

Mr. Fish orchestrated MVP’s re-contracting effort to support its network alliance with CIGNA, providing a leading national network for MVP’s membership.  He also coordinated the roll-out of MVP’s “Seamless Network” after a major acquisition, allowing MVP’s membership seamless network access to over 20,000 providers from both organizations.  As part of the company’s efforts to lower medical costs, he drove medical cost savings of over $15 million annually.

Mr. Fish served as MVP’s first in-house Chief Actuary and created an underwriting unit to support expansion of experience rated products.

Mr. Fish holds his B.S. in Business Administration in Actuarial Science and his B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin.
