Mark Murphy is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting and is based in Boston. Mr. Murphy is a member of the Transaction Services practice.
Mr. Murphy has more than eight years of experience advising strategic and financial buyers with buy-side and sell-side due diligence, transition planning, carve-outs and carve-ins, business plan reviews, financial modeling and restructuring and turnaround activities.
Mr. Murphy’s primary industry specialization is healthcare. Mr. Murphy has worked on transactions ranging from multi-location hospital systems of varying sizes ($10 million to $1+ billion net revenue systems) to home healthcare providers, behavioral health, medical staffing, pharmaceuticals, accountable care organizations (“ACOs”), third-party administrators, management services organizations (“MSOs”) and medical software providers.
In addition to the healthcare industry, Mr. Murphy has provided advisory services in energy, media and entertainment, consumer products, information technology, manufacturing and retail industries on deals ranging from $10 million to $500 million.
Mr. Murphy is an advisory board member to Clean Power Systems, an end-to-end provider of clean intelligent power solutions for mobile network providers in the Middle East & Africa.
Furthermore, Mr. Murphy has worked with lenders in distressed situations to evaluate debtor forecasting tools and reasonableness of critical assumptions driving working capital and liquidity. He has also worked with debtors to build tools used to project, monitor and manage weekly cash flows. Mr. Murphy has assisted clients with financial planning and developing financial models.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Murphy’s professional expertise was primarily focused on the insurance industry. More specifically, he worked in corporate finance for the Liberty Mutual Group. Mr. Murphy was responsible for the monthly cash flow activities of the corporate business unit, assisting in corporate development modeling, managing the monthly generally accepted accounting principles (“GAAP”) reporting for the captive insurance subsidiaries and tracking Liberty Mutual’s internal reinsurance program.
Mr. Murphy holds a B.A. in Finance from Northeastern University and an M.B.A. from the F.W. Olin School of Management at Babson College, both of which he graduated from with honors.
