Mike Rayne is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting and is based in Atlanta. He is a member of the Performance Improvement practice.
Mr. Rayne has 35 years of experience in the automotive industry in global executive leadership positions with Tier 1 companies, including Delphi Automotive and TRW. He has led performance improvement engagements with both on and off highway companies.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Rayne was a Global Vice President for Delphi Automotive DPSS Division with full profit and loss (“P&L”) and operational responsibility for 12 regional businesses located in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific and regional board responsibility for a $800 million European business.
Mr. Rayne’s experience includes interim management positions driving revenue enhancement; selling, general & administrative (“SG&A”) optimization; product portfolio optimization; strategic planning; business unit realignment; operational process management; dealer and aftermarket distribution strategy and growth; service operations; inventory optimization and working capital improvement. His experience covers automotive and industrial, including original equipment manufacturer (“OEM”) and the independent aftermarket with companies like GE, Mercedes, Delphi, TRW, Lucas, Daimler, Caterpillar, Hyundai, Volvo and Group Auto Union.
Mr. Rayne advises senior management and boards of directors in the turnaround of underperforming companies. He has experience with Tier 1 corporations and private equity companies. His expertise includes business and operational strategy focused on delivering operational effectiveness and the elimination of redundant/non-value added processes. Mr. Rayne has served in interim management positions for businesses undergoing integration and restructuring.
Select examples of Mr. Rayne’s experience include senior North American post-merger integration roles for TRW and LucasVarity and advisory roles for Tier 1 Truck and Fuel System companies. Mr. Rayne also played a lead role in the search, acquisition and integration of a European technology company for Delphi automotive. His career experience includes positions on a number of industry and company board of directors, including the Delphi European Governance Board where he has served as an advisor to both Tier 1 and Tier 2 automotive companies.
Mr. Rayne holds a M.Eng. from Winslade College and was part of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers ("REME"). He is a Chartered Engineer. Mr. Rayne was awarded the Ortner Technology Award and SAE McFarland Award and is a Fellow of the Institute of Road Transport and Society of Operation Engineers.
