Ross Blakeley is a Senior Managing Director in the Corporate Finance & Restructuring segment of FTI Consulting and is based in Melbourne, Australia.

With over 25 years’ experience, Ross has a diverse and deep knowledge of corporate restructuring and insolvency gained across a variety of industries. His broad industry experience includes property, construction, wholesale trade, manufacturing, engineering, food processing, technology, health and aged care, logistics, agriculture, retail, hospitality and professional services.

Formal roles have seen Ross assume control and manage the affairs of numerous entities, preserving assets and operating the businesses on an interim basis, whilst managing and effecting a restructure or trade sale.

Acting on behalf of both financiers and companies, Ross has also had considerable advisory experience which includes strategic workouts, operational improvement and turnaround, financial restructuring and refinancing, transaction management, and performance monitoring and improvement.

Recent roles include:

  • Administrator of the Laura Ashley Australian licensee, managing the business on a interim basis whilst a rationalisation plan was effected, before conducting a sale process and executing a sale of the business.
  • Liquidator, on an application made by ASIC, of a group that had raised AU$17M and were operating an unregistered Managed Investment Scheme.
  • Reviewing, monitoring performance and advising improvement initiatives, for a meat processing business with turnover of approximately AU$40M, in preparation for a sale process.
  • Receiver of Pentridge Village, involving a “debt trade” and realisation of a large residential infill site.
  • Administrator of an engineering business involved in construction and maintenance of naval vessels, effecting an operational rationalisation, refinance of secured debt, and compromise with other creditors.

With a focus on privately owned and mid market businesses, Ross’ skills and experience make him well placed to be able to assist with:

  • Independent Business Reviews, including Solvency and Viability assessments;
  • Developing and implementing strategic and business restructuring and turnaround plans;
  • Interim management and acting in interim executive roles, including restructuring and transformation roles;
  • Business transactions, advising and managing both buy and sell side sale processes, due diligence requirements and post sale integration;
  • Capital solutions, sourcing both debt and private capital/strategic investors, including in support of a restructure;
  • Negotiating renewal and restructuring of debt facilities, including debt assignments;
  • Acting as a “Safe Harbour” adviser, supporting a company and directors managing financially distressed businesses; and
  • Formal insolvency appointments.
