Ross Blakeley is a Senior Managing Director in the Corporate Finance & Restructuring segment of FTI Consulting and is based in Melbourne, Australia.

With over 25 years’ experience, Ross has a diverse and deep knowledge of corporate restructuring and insolvency gained across a variety of industries. His broad industry experience includes property, construction, wholesale trade, manufacturing and engineering, food processing, technology, health and aged care, logistics, agriculture, retail, hospitality and professional services.

His formal roles have seen Ross assume control and manage the affairs of numerous entities, preserving assets and operating the businesses on an interim basis, whilst managing and effecting a restructure or trade sale.

In acting on behalf of both financiers and companies, Ross has also had considerable advisory experience which includes strategic workouts, operational improvement and turnaround, financial restructuring, due diligence, independent business reviews, performance monitoring and refinancing.

Recent roles include:

  • Acting as Administrator of Laura Ashley Australian licensee, which was successfully traded for six months and sold following a restructure and rationalisation of the business;
  • Acting as Provisional Liquidator and subsequent Official Liquidator on an application made by ASIC of a group that had raised AU$17 million and were operating an unregistered Managed Investment Scheme;
  • Reviewing a meat processing business with turnover of approximately AU$40 million;
  • Acting as Receiver of Pentridge Village, involving a “debt trade” and realisation of a large residential infill site;
  • Assisting in the interim management of and advising the U.S. parent, who had entered Chapter 11, of the Australian Stereosonic Music festival and event business;
  • Advising a large debenture issuing entity, with a AU$120 million loan portfolio;
  • Acting as Administrator and Liquidator of Akron Roads Pty Ltd, a large civil works contractor with 140 open contracts and AU$90 million in creditors;
  • Acting as Administrator and Liquidator of Allan's Billy Hyde Group, Australia's largest music retailer, involving multiple legal recovery actions;
  • Acting as Receiver and Manager of one of Australia's largest manufacturers and distributors of health assistance products, involving the interim management and ultimate sale of the business;
  • Acting as Liquidator of an entity with a satellite technology holding valued in excess of AU$20 million, which was “asset stripped” to a British Virgin Islands entity, and the subject of successful subsequent recovery litigation; and
  • Acting as Administrator of an engineering business involved in the construction and maintenance of naval vessels, effecting an operational rationalisation, refinance of secured debt, and compromise with other creditors.
