Steve Wright is a Senior Director in the Strategic Communications segment of FTI Consulting, and he is based in Melbourne, Australia.

A former CEO and company director, Mr. Wright is known for his depth of experience in corporate and investor relations, industry representation and financial market activity.

Mr. Wright is a stakeholder relations professional, who has spent many years in industry advocacy and government relations.

Mr. Wright was at the centre of communications in some of the country's biggest corporate transactions — including the privatisation of Telstra, the SingTel takeover of Optus and the launch of smartphone technology in Australia. He has represented small and large international companies in his five years as Executive Director of the Franchise Council of Australia.

At FTI Consulting, Mr. Wright has been focussed on the energy sector, assisting Australian and multinational clients in project development proposals and government and regulatory interaction.

Mr. Wright started out in journalism, working for The West Australian newspaper in Perth, Port Hedland, Melbourne and Sydney, before joining News Ltd. in Canberra, where he succeeded Niki Savva as chief correspondent for the Melbourne Sun (now the Herald Sun).

Mr. Wright joined FTI Consulting after working on company reorganisation projects with Ok Tedi Mining (successful mine life extension) and Rio Tinto Diamonds (assets on five continents).

Previously, Mr. Wright headed the External Relations functions at Telstra, Optus and Hutchison Telecom. He served as a Director and Treasurer of the Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association as well as as a Director of the Telecommunications Service Providers’ Industry Association, the Competitive Carriers’ Coalition and the World Franchise Council.
