Brendan Casey, Ph.D.

Dr. Brendan Casey specializes in quantifying economic impacts that result from ongoing businesses, new investments and public policies. Brendan helps energy project developers, trade groups and multinational companies deploy capital by advocating for their projects and organizations, and by driving policy changes informed by detailed economic analysis using best-in-class data and methods.

Dr. Casey has more than seven years of experience using models such as IMPLAN and REMI to estimate the impacts of public policy changes, including tariffs or bans on specific imports, and major infrastructure investments. He has supported clients in the renewable energy, oil and gas, chemicals and consumer products sectors to demonstrate how projects and policies affect employment, GDP and taxes at the local, state and national levels across the United States and around the world. Clients utilize his work to support permit applications and regulatory filings and to raise awareness of key issues for their businesses among legislators.

Brendan holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Clark University and a B.A. in Economics from Hofstra University. Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Dr. Casey was the Deputy Director of Economic Analysis at the American Clean Power Association.

Relevant Experience:

• Evaluate the economic benefits of a proposed liquified natural gas (“LNG”) terminal expansion in the United States; this study provided estimates of jobs and other economic impacts supported by both construction and operation of the terminal at the local, state and national levels
• Quantified the national and local economic benefits of an oil and gas producer’s annual capital expenditures and operations across ten states. Estimated expected benefits associated with proposed drilling program on local and state jobs, tax receipts and GDP
• Examined the jobs, GDP, tax revenues and other economic benefits at risk due to potential policy changes regarding fluorinated chemicals in critical sectors such as aerospace manufacturing and defense
