About Richard
Richard Kim is a member of FTI Capital Advisors, FTI Consulting’s investment banking subsidiary, and the Canadian market leader in special situations investment banking and advisory engagements. Mr. Kim is based in Toronto and has more than 15 years of experience in M&A, capital advisory, corporate finance and accounting.
Mr. Kim is a trusted advisor to business owners, management teams, boards of directors, lenders, private equity investors and a variety of other stakeholders on issues related to M&A, strategic alternatives, capital raising, balance sheet restructuring and special situations.
Mr. Kim has served clients in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and France, leading engagements across a wide array of industries, including agriculture, construction, financial services, healthcare and nutrition, insurance, manufacturing, media, mining and metals, pharmaceuticals, retail, specialty finance, technology and transportation.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Kim was a Manager at KPMG LLP, where he specialized in buy-side and sell-side M&A due diligence engagements for private equity firms, pension funds and strategic clients.
Mr. Kim is a Chartered Accountant (“CA”), a Chartered Public Accountant (“CPA”) and holds a B.A. in economics and accounting from Wilfrid Laurier University, where he graduated with honors. He is a licensed FINRA general securities registered representative in Series 7, 63 and 79.
Relevant Experience:
- Advised Chesswood Group, a specialty finance company, in its sale and investment solicitation process resulting in the sale of its Canadian and U.S. business units in equipment, automobile, litigation finance and asset management
- Advised Fire &Flower, a Canadian cannabis retailer, in its sale to FIKA Cannabis
- Advised North West Terminal, a grain elevator and alcohol distillation company, in its sale of grain assets to Bunge Canada
- Advised Tepperman’s, a Canadian household product retailer, in securing an asset-based loan secured primarily by the retailer’s consumer loan portfolio
- Advised Harte Gold, a Canadian gold mine owner and operator, in its sale to Silver Lake Resources in Australia
