Shengyu Jin

Shengyu Jin has more than 16 years of technology consulting experience in e-discovery, analytics, data governance and information management. Ms. Jin has led numerous large-scale, cross-border e-discovery projects in litigation and investigations across industries including telecommunications, pharmaceutical, e-commerce, banking and retail. She is an expert in handling emerging data sources, including WeChat and WhatsApp, across the e-discovery lifecycle.

Ms. Jin has a deep understanding of the unique cultures, values and practices in both Asia and Western regions, allowing her to bridge gaps during cross-border matters and provide tailored solutions to clients. She leverages knowledge of substantive client goals and technical aspects of e-discovery to develop creative, efficient and defensible approaches to meet tight deadlines while reducing costs and mitigating risks. Her ability to simplify the multilayered process of discovery and review management is especially valuable in helping clients plan and manage large volumes of data and various emerging data types.

As a leading legal technology expert, Ms. Jin assisted in the implementation of FTI Technology’s Connect and Universal Messaging Platform solutions in the Asia Pacific region, bringing proprietary platforms to market to help clients drive faster access to insights and rapid integration of cloud data sources into e-discovery tools and workflows.

Prior to joining FTI Technology, Ms. Jin worked as a Database and Business Manager at a U.S.-based intellectual property law firm in Washington D.C. She led the development and maintenance of an in-house case management system, which included docketing and auto-billing functionality for intellectual property prosecution. She possesses a strong understanding of the application of U.S. IP law and is well-versed in the U.S. litigation and arbitration process.

Ms. Jin speaks English and native Mandarin.

Relevant Experience:

• Led a complex, cross-border project involving a U.S. Department of Justice investigation for a major Chinese e-commerce company, collecting and processing more than 100 custodians’ data and reviewing millions of documents
• Managed a China-based review related to a U.S. Food and Drug Administration investigation for one of the largest Chinese pharmaceutical companies, collaborating with the company to design a data collection questionnaire to identify relevant data sources
• Led multiple efforts related to a high-profile, multiyear U.S. export control sanctions case involving a large Chinese telecommunications company, with data from hundreds of custodians located across Asia, Europe, North America and South America
