Susana Esteban

Susana Esteban is a world-renowned expert in blockchain, crypto assets, DeFi and Web3. Throughout her career, Susana has advised clients primarily in the finance sector, as well in the retail, supply chain, healthcare, insurance and real estate sectors, amongst others.

Susana’s diverse, hands-on experience enables her to provide clients with strategic guidance in digital assets, underpinned by practical solutions, which can be operationalized for enterprises. She recognises innovation, can pinpoint disruption in an industry, performs technical and operational assessments and risk management, develops economic models and valuation, and leads the implementation of Blockchain technology. She has experience in creating tokens, defining utility and life-cycle models and leading the deployment and instruction of smart-contracts. Susana regularly develops go-to-market strategies, including assessing regulatory risks, designing compliant tokenomics models and supporting institutions in integrating digital assets within existing legal frameworks.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Susana founded and led an independent advisory firm specializing in blockchain and digital assets in 2015. She is also a founding member of the International Association of Trusted Blockchain Applications (“INATBA”) and the Oxford Blockchain Foundation. She is a globally recognized leader in this space and has spoken at more than 70 conferences and podcasts due to her unique expertise and depth in the industry.

Susana has held previous leadership roles in various industries across Germany, Spain, Italy and the UK, and is fluent in English, German, Spanish, French and Italian.

Since 2024, Susana has been serving on the expert panel of the Digital Euro Association at the European level.

Relevant Experience:

• Led advanced economic and tokenomics modelling for digital-asset disputes and strategic engagements, including price-impact analysis, liquidity and market-structure assessment and valuation of token ecosystems to support both litigation teams and institutional clients
• Provided cryptocurrency valuation expertise in quantifying damages in a dispute involving a digital asset exchange
• Led post-investment due diligence with a focus on compliance, token valuation and cap table integrity
• Directed valuation of blockchain protocols and digital asset products for a custody and prime brokerage platform
• Directed digital transformation for a financial services firm, integrating blockchain technology with a focus on risk and privacy management
• Led the tokenomics design for a pioneering real estate tokenization project in the Middle East, aligning economic models with technical architecture to enable liquidity, rewards and investor adoption
• Led pilot project tokenizing the first real estate in the UK on blockchain
• Delivered market intelligence and strategic advice for global expansion to a major crypto derivatives exchange
• Worked closely with developers to design and implement end-to-end solutions to manage digital assets, including issuing new tokens, and deployment of smart contracts and tokenization of assets
