Crisis Managed

Administering 7,000 Compensation Claims for the Catholic Church

How do you swiftly verify and manage thousands of compensation claims for an organization in crisis across five states?

In response to a request from Pope Francis, the Archdiocese of New York and other Catholic Church dioceses initiated a series of independent compensation programs to assist survivors of instances of sexual abuse of minors by clergy.

The Law Offices of Kenneth R. Feinberg served as Administrator to various dioceses and investigated, administrated and mediated individual claims.

FTI Consulting was retained to assist the Administrator in the intake, validation and communications of the compensation programs, for 23 dioceses across five states.

Our Impact

Approximately 7,000 survivors’ claims were vetted and processed through various data claimant portals over a period of six years.
