About Diego
Diego Costa is a Senior Director on the Construction, Projects & Assets practice at FTI Consulting in Madrid. Diego is a testifying expert in international arbitrations, specializing in the quantification of construction claims and cost overruns. With more than 12 years of experience, he has advised on disputes exceeding USD 350 million across Latin America, the Middle East and Europe.
Diego has been appointed as a quantum expert in more than 10 International Chamber of Commerce (“ICC”) and International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (“ICSID”) arbitrations, which primarily involved complex infrastructure, energy and transportation disputes. His expertise includes damage analysis, cost overrun analysis, concession and joint venture audits, fraud investigations, due diligence and restructuring processes. He provides these services for a wide range of projects, such as highways, airports, high-speed railways, telecom networks, photovoltaic plants, wind farms, and oil and gas facilities. He supports clients on active projects with commercial strategy, contract administration and cost control services.
Before joining FTI Consulting, Diego gained hands-on site experience working with Bouygues in France and Dragados in Canada. He holds a M.S. in Civil Engineering and a M.S. in Finance. He is a member of the Academy of Experts and is fluent in Spanish, English, French and Portuguese — having testified in all four languages.

- Provided expert opinion and quantified damages in a fraud investigation and dispute related to a highway concession in Peru.
- Provided expert opinion, delay analysis and quantification of damages in a dispute related to the concession of a telecom network in Peru.
- Provided expert opinion and quantification of damages in a dispute related to the construction of a photovoltaic power plant in Mexico.
- Expert opinion and quantification of damages in a dispute related to a hydroelectric plant in El Salvador.
