Beatriz Cózar Murillo

Dr. Beatriz Cózar Murillo is a Senior Director and leads the Defence & Aerospace practice within the Strategic Communications segment in Brussels.

Beatriz’s expertise covers all aspects of EU policies, processes and regulatory files, with a deep specialisation in security, defence and industrial policies. She has a strong record in supporting defence clients — including financial, tech and civilian companies — on designing and executing policy and engagement strategies, as well as developing and delivering public affairs advocacy strategies at the EU and NATO level. She also helps clients build a clearer understanding of EU and NATO procurement processes to inform strategic decisions and compliant market approaches.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Beatriz established and headed the Brussels office of a leading Spanish defence company, spearheading the company’s activities across the EU/NATO framework and introducing the organisation to several key European collaborative projects. Additionally, she has served as a lecturer at the University of Cádiz in Spain and published extensively on European defence and industrial policy, as well as on the war in Ukraine, combining academic depth and practical advisory experience with stakeholder engagement, policy influence and capability development.

Beatriz holds a joint Ph.D. in Political and Legal Sciences, focused on EU defence initiatives, from the University of Ghent in Belgium and Universidad Pablo de Olavide in Spain, an M.A. in European Affairs from the University of Salamanca in Spain and an LL.B. from the University of Seville in Spain.
