Eric T. Steigerwalt joined the Board of Directors of FTI Consulting, Inc. in March 2025 and serves as a member of the Audit Committee and the Compensation Committee.
Mr. Steigerwalt currently serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Brighthouse Financial, Inc., one of the largest providers of annuities and life insurance in the United States. In his role, Mr. Steigerwalt led the successful spin-off of Brighthouse Financial from MetLife, Inc. in August 2017.
Prior to the spin-off of Brighthouse Financial, Mr. Steigerwalt spent 19 years at MetLife. From 2012 to 2017, Mr. Steigerwalt served as Executive Vice President of U.S. Retail, where he oversaw the individual annuity, life, disability and property & casualty businesses, as well as affiliated and third-party sales distribution organizations. Additional roles Mr. Steigerwalt held during his tenure at MetLife include serving as Interim Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) from 2011 to 2012, CFO of the U.S. Business from 2010 to 2011, Senior Vice President and Treasurer from 2007 to 2009, CFO of the Individual Business from 2003 to 2007, and Senior Vice President of Investor Relations and Financial Management from 2000 to 2003.
Prior to joining MetLife, Mr. Steigerwalt served as the Vice President of Investor Relations at AXA Financial, Inc. from 1993 to 1998. Earlier, he was a consultant at The Carson Group from 1990 to 1993, advising investor relations professionals and CFOs. He began his professional career as a derivatives trader at Fossett Trading Corporation from 1986 to 1990.
Mr. Steigerwalt serves as a member of the Brighthouse Financial board and is the Chairman of the board of its subsidiary, Brighthouse Life Insurance Company. In addition, Mr. Steigerwalt serves on several other professional and philanthropic boards, including the board of the American Council of Life Insurers (“ACLI”), where he is a member of the Executive Committee and Chairman of the ACLI PAC, and as the Chairman of the board of Brighthouse Scholar Connections.
Mr. Steigerwalt holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Drew University.
