About Andrew
Andrew Preston has served as an expert and trusted advisor to clients navigating complex government investigations and litigation for nearly 20 years. He assists clients with all phases of investigations by the Enforcement Division of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the U.S. Department of Justice, boards of directors, and management. He brings a breadth of experience in accounting, fraud, asset misappropriation, damages quantum, and business valuation derived from investigation and dispute engagements across the globe.
Mr. Preston regularly presents the results of investigations to SEC Staff, and conducts investigations from initial information requests through the Wells process. He has investigated revenue recognition, asset misappropriation, asset valuation, disclosures, contingent liabilities, and disgorgement in response to SEC inquiries; fraud and false claims in response to DOJ investigations; and accounting matters on behalf of management and audit committees (including whistleblower complaints and short-seller allegations). Mr. Preston has also consulted on accounting, fraud, disclosure, and valuation issues in securities litigation, civil litigation, and white-collar criminal defense matters before U.S. federal and state courts.
Mr. Preston has served as both a testifying and consulting expert on lost profits, damages, post-acquisition disputes, and accounting neutral matters. Mr. Preston has consulted on nearly 40 international arbitrations and has acted for both claimants and respondents in a variety of forums. His experience spans a combination of investor-state and commercial matters in North America, Latin America, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
Mr. Preston’s clients include Fortune 500 corporations, privately held startups, high net worth individuals, private investment funds, and sovereign governments. He has advised clients across a wide range of industries including manufacturing, retail and consumer products, fintech, infrastructure, renewable and conventional energy generation, telecommunications, oil and natural gas, and private equity.
Mr. Preston is a Certified Public Accountant in the District of Columbia, a Certified Fraud Examiner, and holds an M.S. degree in accountancy and a B.S. degree in analytical finance from Wake Forest University.
