About John
John Whitcomb provides strategic counsel to companies across the industrials sector, with a specific focus on aerospace and defense including defense primes, satellite manufacturers, launch providers, engine suppliers, and emerging defense technology firms. He helps clients navigate issues that impact their enterprise value, reputation, and license to operate—particularly at moments of crisis and transformation.
John’s experience spans complex litigation, government investigations, cybersecurity incidents, mergers and acquisitions, bid protests, and capital market activities, as well as advocacy campaigns designed to secure and advance government funding. He also advises on regulatory approvals for cross-border transactions involving antitrust and national security reviews, and supports clients as they adapt to evolving policy and market dynamics.
In addition to his work in aerospace and defense, John advises companies across a range of sectors on trade and national security issues, including tariff investigations, trade compliance, domestic content requirements, export control regulations, and emerging industrial policy initiatives. His work often integrates policy analysis, risk mitigation, and strategic communications to help clients achieve both commercial and policy objectives.
Before joining FTI Consulting, John was part of a leading bipartisan government relations and lobbying firm, where he served as a legislative analyst supporting clients on complex federal issues. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Cedarville University.
